Crime Prevention Award Nominations Deadline Approaches

Nova Scotians are being encouraged to nominate people with outstanding commitment to crime prevention for a provincial award.

The deadline for the Minister's Award for Leadership in Crime Prevention has been extended until Friday, Feb. 24.

The award honours those who are making a significant contribution to their community by preventing crime, and making communities safer.

"Many people are working hard to help families feel and be safe in our communities and this is an opportunity to recognize the good work that's happening around the province," said Ross Landry, Minister of Justice.

Nominees can include business leaders, police officers, youth, media, and community groups and leaders. The winners will be announced at the Crime Prevention Symposium on March 28.

The Department of Justice is accepting nominations in six categories:

  • Individual
  • Youth
  • Community Group or Organization
  • Policing
  • Business Community
  • Media
