Province Improving On-line Services for Vehicle Owners

Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations (Oct. 2000 - March 2014)

Nova Scotians renewing vehicle permits on-line will now be able to use a printed copy of their on-line receipt as proof of registration for 10 days.

"With the 10-day interim vehicle permit people can continue operating their vehicle until they receive the new permit and sticker, if their plates are expired," said John MacDonell, Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations. "We continue to find ways to improve service and make life better for Nova Scotians."

In January, the province's Online Vehicle Permit Renewal service was integrated with the Registry of Motor Vehicles database to validate online data. The vehicle permit/plate expiry from online transactions is automatically updated in the registry's system.

The printable receipt is valid as a 10-day interim vehicle permit from the date of the transaction, unless otherwise stated on the receipt.
