Natural Resources (to July 2018)

Department of Natural Resource officials have safely removed an errant moose that was in a residential area today, Sept. 27, near the top of Main Avenue in the Fairview area of Halifax Regional Municipality.

Wildlife staff tranquilized the animal, assessed its health, removed it by truck and released it into the wilderness.

The two-and-a-half-year-old bull moose was uninjured. It is about 500 pounds and has small antlers.

People who encounter a moose should not approach the animal and should leave an escape route for it.
