More Outreach Sessions in the Province

Ombudsman

NOTE: Details of the meetings follows this release.

The Office of the Ombudsman is holding more outreach sessions in the province to talk about its work.

Sessions will be held this month in Cole Harbour, Halifax, Yarmouth and Windsor. These follow sessions held in Amherst and Sydney last month.

"The sessions will give us the opportunity to provide Nova Scotian's with a better understanding of our work." said Ombudsman Dwight Bishop.

"The sessions are a chance to talk to people in their own communities, about their concerns, especially people who may not be aware of our role and may need our services."

The office is also available to meet with family resource centres and community groups. To arrange a presentation call Kay Rogers-Lidstone at 902-424-6780 or e-mail her at <rogersmc@gov.ns.ca.>

The office investigates complaints against provincial and municipal government departments, agencies, boards and commissions. It also provides services to youth and seniors along with a public interest disclosure of wrongdoing process. Investigations provide an opportunity to make recommendations that impact policies, procedures, and practices.

The office, established in 1971, promotes the principles of fairness, integrity and good government. More information is available at www.gov.ns.ca/ombu.
