Spring Weight Road Restrictions Suspended in 13 Counties

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Due to stubborn winter conditions, spring weight restrictions for commercial vehicles that began recently on posted provincial roads in Nova Scotia have been suspended in 13 counties until 12:01 a.m., Monday, March 23.

Restrictions remain in effect in the counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, Digby, Queens and Annapolis.

The weight restrictions on heavy trucks are necessary during the spring thaw to help protect roads weakened by mild and wet weather.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal monitors air and road temperatures and works closely with the trucking industry and Environment Canada to determine the date that best protects the province's road surfaces.

Updated information is posted on the department's website at http://novascotia.ca/tran/trucking/springweight.asp .
