Camping Parks Reservations Line to Open

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

The toll-free reservation phone line and website for booking provincial park campsites is opening Thursday, April 2.

The campsite reservation system is available, in English and French, at www.novascotiaparks.ca and 1-888-544-3434 between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. This is the tenth year that Nova Scotians can book their park reservations online.

About 80 per cent of provincial park campsite bookings are made by campers before arriving at a park.

Day-use provincial parks operate from May 15 to Oct. 12. Opening dates for camping parks vary during May and June, with closings in September and October.

The reservation fee is $9, with a $7 cancellation fee.

Before July 3, alcohol is not permitted in any provincial camping park.

This year, seven of 20 provincial camping parks are changing to self registration. Campers can either book ahead, online or by toll-free calling, or arrive at a park and use the phone at the front gate to book and pay for a campsite. These parks are:

  • Laurie and Porters Lake provincial parks, Halifax Regional Municipality
  • The Islands Provincial Park, Shelburne County
  • Smileys Provincial Park, Windsor
  • Boylston Provincial Park, Guysborough County
  • Salsman Provincial Park, Country Harbour, Guysborough Co.
  • Whycocomagh Provincial Park, Whycocomagh
