Mineville Fire Contained

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

A fire in Mineville, Halifax Co., has been contained by fire crews.

Halifax Fire crews were released from the scene this morning, May 8, and Natural Resources crews remain on site for cleanup.

"I want to thank the DNR ground and air fire crews, EMO, Halifax Fire, the RCMP and other support organizations for their co-ordinated and effective response to this fire," said Natural Resources Minister Zach Churchill. "My thanks go out to the residents of East Lawrencetown for their co-operation with the evacuation last night."

More than 19 hectares of ground burned in the fire, but no buildings were affected.

Conditions in the province are dry and Mr. Churchill encouraged all Nova Scotians to check burning restrictions at http://novascotia.ca/natr/forestprotection/wildfire/burnsafe/ or call 1-855-564-2876(BURN).
