Chester Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Lifted

Environment (April 2008 - Feb. 2021)

A precautionary boil water advisory issued for parts of Chester has now been lifted.

The Department of Environment issued the advisory on Feb. 3 after bacteria was found through testing of a dug well on Pleasant Street. The issue was the result of a break in a privately owned sewer line that has since been repaired.

Private well owners are responsible for ensuring that their wells are constructed to provincial standards and the water is safe to drink. Wells should be tested for bacteria every six months.
