Canada's Parks Day Events in Provincial Parks

People can enjoy Canada's Parks Day events at several provincial parks, Saturday, July 16.

"Take this opportunity to visit a Nova Scotia provincial park on a warm summer day. It's a great experience," said Natural Resources Minister Lloyd Hines. "We have 130 provincial parks where people can embrace nature and enjoy time together outdoors."

Visitors to Ellenwood Lake Provincial Park in Yarmouth Co. can enjoy a scavenger hunt and barbecue from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.

An introduction to geocaching will be offered at MacElmons Pond Provincial Park in Colchester Co. from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Other Canada's Parks Day events include:

  • historical walk and barbecue at Five Islands Provincial Park, Colchester Co., at 11 a.m.
  • sandcastle competition and beach fun, Rissers Beach Provincial Park, Lunenburg Co., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • aboriginal traditional and ecological knowledge presentation with Gerald Gloade, Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park, Colchester Co., from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • wildflower walk, Blomidon Provincial Park, Kings Co., at 1:30 p.m.
