Seniors Week in Nova Scotia

Seniors (Oct. 2007 - Aug. 2021)

Seniors have helped build Nova Scotia and continue to contribute their time, knowledge and experience in the province's communities.

Saturday, Oct. 1, is the United Nations' International Day of Older Persons. To recognize this, and the contributions of the province's seniors, Premier Stephen McNeil is proclaiming Oct. 1 to Oct. 7 as Seniors Week in Nova Scotia.

"Let's celebrate the seniors in our lives and their contribution to the well-being of our province," said Leo Glavine, Minister of Seniors. "I encourage everyone to take the time to acknowledge and appreciate the older adults in your life."

Libraries across the province will host free events focused on seniors' interests during Seniors Week.

"Nova Scotia's public libraries are proud to serve seniors in person and online," said Tony Ince, Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage. "Libraries connect people to reliable sources of vital knowledge, and are places to learn, connect and create."
