Accessibility Law Amendments Meetings to be Live-streamed

Justice

Nova Scotians interested in Bill 59, the Accessibility Act, can watch upcoming presentations to the law amendments committee live online.

The committee hears input from the public on legislation that has been introduced. The live stream is available at nslegislature.ca/index.php/proceedings/legislative-tv/. The proceedings will also be broadcast on legislative television.

Live-streaming law amendments committee hearings is another innovation in how people can participate in this step of the legislative process. Other changes to accommodate people with disabilities have included more advance notice of the hearing so people can arrange for accessible transportation; signing and real-time captioning for people who are deaf or hard of hearing; videoconferencing where requested; and more accessible communication about the process and the bill on a dedicated Accessibility Act webpage at novascotia.ca/coms/accessibility/.

The committee meets Thursday, March 2, 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and on Friday, March 3, 9-11 a.m. at Province House, 1726 Hollis St., Halifax.
