Feedback on Agriculture Policy Framework

Agriculture

The Department of Agriculture is collecting feedback through an online survey to help shape future policy that will succeed the Growing Forward 2 agreement between federal and provincial governments when it ends next year.

The next federal, provincial and territorial agricultural policy framework will launch in 2018.

“Agriculture is a backbone of our economy and we want to hear from Nova Scotians about what they see as priorities for strengthening this industry which is so critical to our province’s future,” said Agriculture Minister Keith Colwell. “A strong agriculture sector is important for jobs and prosperity and the security of our food supply.”

Feedback will be collected on the following priorities identified in the Calgary Statement from Canada’s agriculture ministers last July:

  • markets and trade
  • science, research and innovation
  • environmental sustainability and climate change
  • value-added agriculture and agri-food processing
  • public trust.

The survey is available at novascotia.ca/agri/ and is open until April 28.
