Tentative Agreement Reached in Labour Dispute

Labour and Advanced Education (Jan. 2011 - Aug. 2021)

The Halifax Herald and the Halifax Typographical Union have reached a tentative agreement after two days of mediation.

“I thank both parties and the mediator, William Kaplan, for their hard work over the long weekend to reach a tentative agreement,” said Derek Mombourquette, acting Minister of Labour and Advanced Education. “I hope this begins the process of rebuilding the relationship between the two parties.”

Details of the tentative agreement will not be released until the agreement is ratified by union members.

The labour dispute between the Halifax Herald and the Halifax Typographical Union has been ongoing for 18 months.
