R.C. Gordon Receives Money for Science Lab

Education and Culture (to July 1999)

Acadian and francophone students at Ecole R.C. Gordon in Greenwood will conduct their biology and chemistry experiments in a new science laboratory when they return to class this fall.

Education and Culture Minister Robbie Harrison announced today that $168,000 will be spent on the project.

"As a government, we're committed to expanding French first-language programs to meet the growing needs of Acadian and francophone students," said Mr. Harrison. "We're working with the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial to ensure students and teachers have the resources they need to receive a high-quality education."

Work has already started to convert part of the existing library space into a lab and is scheduled to be completed by the end of August. Mid-Valley Construction Ltd. of Wilmot was awarded the tender.

Ecole R.C. Gordon serves about 200 Acadian and francophone students.
