Good Response to Antlerless Deer Stamp Draw

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

Almost 33,000 applications were received for Nova Scotia's first computerized draw for stamps enabling a limited number of hunters to hunt antlerless deer this fall.

"We are pleased with the response from the hunting community and with the high number of applications received," said Natural Resources Minister Kennie MacAskill.

A total of 32,641 applications were received by the midnight Friday, Sept. 4, deadline. A computerized random draw selected 8,150 applications immediately after the deadline and notification to successful applicants was mailed Tuesday.

Results of the draw will be available Sept. 12-16 by placing a toll-free call to 1-877-535-1234, or 493-1412 in the Halifax area. The results will also be available during the same period on the Internet at www.deerdraw.hmcgroup.ca .

Successful applicants will be permitted to bag an antlerless deer only in the zone for which their stamp is valid. The program marks the introduction of a zoned deer management system throughout the province.
