Climate Change Projects Announced

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

Two projects under the public outreach component of the federal government's $150-million Climate Change Action Fund have been announced for Nova Scotia.

The first, Climate Change 2000, will educate community groups about climate change so that they may develop community-based proposals to help reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

Partners in the $127,000 project are the Clean Nova Scotia Foundation, the Nova Scotia Environmental Network, and the provincial departments of Natural Resources and Environment.

A second project, Climate Change Action Pack, is designed to develop an information package for use in schools and to co-ordinate professional development workshops for teachers.

Partners in the $21,000 action pack project are Scientists and Innovators in the Schools, the provincial departments of Natural Resources and Environment, Natural Resources Canada, and Industry Canada.

Natural Resources Minister Kennie MacAskill and Environment Minister Don Downe endorsed both projects when they were announced in Halifax on Monday at a joint meeting of energy and environment ministers from across the country.
