Astronaut to Tour Public Libraries

Education and Culture (to July 1999)

Astronaut Steve MacLean will splash down in Nova Scotia Aug. 17-20, to promote the Nova Scotia Regional Libraries' Summer Reading Program. Dr. MacLean will visit libraries in each region to meet children, sign autographs and answer questions about the space program.

Dr. MacLean's visit is one of the many activities scheduled in public libraries across the province in conjunction with the Summer Reading Program. The program this year, Launch Yourself Into a Good Book-Lancez-vous dans la lecture, is based on an outer-space theme.

The Summer Reading Program was initiated several years ago to provide children with the opportunity to maintain their reading habits and skill levels throughout the summer.

For more information about Dr. MacLean's tour, visit the Nova Scotia Provincial Library website at www.library.ns.ca, or contact your local library.
