Speaker Appoints Commissioner

Murray Scott, Speaker of the Nova Scotia Legislative Assembly, has announced the appointment of Graham D. Walker, Q.C., former legislative counsel for the province, as commissioner pursuant to Section 45 of the House of Assembly Act.

Mr. Walker will make an inquiry and a provide a report respecting indemnities, allowances and salaries to be paid in accordance with the House of Assembly Act, Executive Council Act and the Retired Members' Allowances Act.

Mr. Walker will be seeking input from the public as described in advertisements. The report is due on or before Dec. 1, 1999, as required by the act.
