Premier's Office

Premier John Hamm today paid tribute to Russell MacLellan on the occasion of his announced intention to resign as Leader of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party.

"For over 20 years, Russell MacLellan has worked tirelessly on behalf of his constituents in the House of Commons, and on behalf of all Nova Scotians at Province House," said Premier Hamm.

"Mr. MacLellan has always put the interests of Nova Scotians first," added the premier. "His public service will not be forgotten by Nova Scotians, particularly with respect to the sensitive and caring manner in which he represented our province as premier during the difficult days following the Swissair tragedy."

"I wish Mr. MacLellan, his wife Clare, and their two children, Sarah and Matthew, all the best in the future," concluded Premier Hamm. "I look forward to his continued contribution to public life in Nova Scotia."
