Cause of Death Determined

Chief Medical Examiner

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has advised the death of Adam Baird Comeau, 36, which occurred on Jan. 5, was the result of acute blood loss/aspiration of blood and blood clots due to laceration of the mouth/lower jaw with deep soft tissue/bony injury.

Under the Fatality Inquiries Act, the chief medical examiner may recommend an inquiry into the death be held. Dr. Vernon Bowes is making that recommendation to Chief Judge Jean-Louis Batiot. His request, along with the medical examiner's report has been forwarded to the chief judge.

Mr. Comeau was shot in December during a low-speed chase with Halifax police and died two weeks later in the Nova Scotia Hospital.
