2000 Woodlot Owner of the Year Field Day

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

The Department of Natural Resources is holding a field day on the woodlot of Tom and Bill Skinner, Nova Scotia's 2000 Woodlot Owners of the Year. The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The field day will provide an opportunity for the public to meet the Skinners and tour their woodlot off Highway 1 in South Berwick.

"This is the 11th year for this award," said Natural Resources Minister Ernest Fage. "The Skinners were awarded woodlot owners of the year because of the care they take as they manage their woodlot. They do what is best for each acre and tree on the woodlot."

Demonstrations on how the woodlot is managed will be held. In addition, the field day will feature tractor safety displays and demonstrations, all terrain vehicles equipped for forestry use, filing and maintenance demonstrations for chainsaws, woodlot management displays, guided walks, antique saws and motors, and portable mills.

The Skinners will officially be presented with their award at about 12:30 p.m.
