Tentative Agreement Reached

The Department of Justice and Local 480 of the Nova Scotia
Government Employees Union today reached a tentative agreement.

If accepted, the agreement will affect more than 300 correctional
officers working in eight institutions around the province.

Justice Minister Michael Baker commended the efforts of the
negotiating team and said he was extremely pleased that a
tentative deal has been reached.

The bargaining process began last August.

Details of the tentative agreement will be kept confidential
until the union membership has had an opportunity to vote on the
