Towards a New Atlantic Canada Action Plan

Council of Atlantic Premiers

Focusing on the Future: The New Atlantic Revolution, a report to Atlantic premiers by Dr. Charles McMillan, is now available for input and feedback by interested parties.

Upon forming the Council of Atlantic Premiers, the four premiers agreed to explore new ideas and opportunities where regional cooperation may be beneficial. As part of this process, the premiers asked Dr. Charles McMillan of York University and president of Scotia Glenayr, Inc., to research and provide views on the future of Atlantic regional cooperation.

Following a translation of the report, the Council of Atlantic Premiers is now asking provincial governments and key stakeholders for input and feedback on Dr. McMillan’s recommendations. The responses, once analyzed, will be among the views considered in the development of a new Atlantic action plan for regional cooperation. Copies of Focusing on the Future, as well as the consultation survey form, are available on the Council of Atlantic Premiers’s Web site at www.cmp.ca/toc.htm or from the Council Secretariat.

The Council of Atlantic Premiers was formally established in May 2000 to provide premiers with a stronger forum to give voice to the Atlantic Canadian perspective on matters of national and regional interest, and to facilitate greater regional cooperation among provinces.
