New Bi-Hi Ramps Open Tomorrow

Transportation and Public Works (to Oct. 2007)

The new traffic ramps connecting the Bicentennial Highway to Dutch Village Road in Halifax will open to traffic at 6 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24.

The $2-million project, funded equally by the government of Nova Scotia and Halifax Regional Municipality, is designed to improve the traffic flow from the highway into the city while reducing congestion in the Bayers Road/Dutch Village Road area.

"I am extremely pleased that we are able to work with HRM to cost-share this important project," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "There's been a significant increase in traffic volume in the metro region, in particular on Highway 102, and it's encouraging to know we're at the point where the ramps are opening to the public."

The ramp project was designed by O'Halloran Campbell Consultants Limited.

MLA Barry Barnet will represent the province on behalf of the minister at a ribbon-cutting ceremony today.
