RMV Services Launched in Windsor

Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations (Oct. 2000 - March 2014)

SERVICE N.S./MUNICIPAL RELATIONS--RMV Services Launched in Windsor

Windsor-area residents no longer need to make the trip to Kentville to renew their driver registration.

Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) service will be available at the Registry of Deeds at the Windsor Mall on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. During those hours, staff will issue and renew driver's licences and vehicle registrations and will issue photo identification cards. Driving tests will also be available on Tuesdays. Anyone who wants to arrange a driving test should call 1-800-898-7668 to schedule an appointment.

"We have been wanting to introduce RMV services, at least on a part-time basis, in the Windsor area for a long time," said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations. "This is another example of how our department is providing better service, in more locations, more efficiently and cost-effectively."

"We served 68 people on Wednesday, Aug. 20, the first day the new services were offered," said regional director Donna MacRury. "Based on these early results, we expect that this will be a high-volume location."

This is the fourth location where Registry of Motor Vehicle services are offered through a Registry of Deeds. Over the past year, Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations has introduced part-time RMV services in Liverpool, Shelburne and Guysborough.
