Premier Appoints New Communications Director

Premier John Hamm announced today, July 22, the appointment of Robert Batherson as his director of Communications.

Mr. Batherson was born in Sydney and currently resides in Sackville. Since starting in the Premier's Office in 1999, he has taken on the roles of deputy director of communications, press secretary and manager of communications. He has also worked for two members of Parliament in Ottawa and for Premier Hamm while in opposition.

Mr. Batherson holds a Bachelor of Public Relations degree from Mount Saint Vincent University and is a member of the Nova Scotia chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society.

"Rob has been a key member of our team for many years and I am delighted that by promoting from within we are able to put this experience to work as director," said the premier. "As a government, we will continue to work hard to deliver on the commitments we made to Nova Scotians in our blueprint to improve health care, enhance classroom education and strengthen our economy."

The appointment is effective immediately.
