NATURAL RESOURCES--Province Supports Improvements to Port Hood Park

Nova Scotians and visitors will see improvements to the Port Hood Provincial Park this summer, thanks to a $70,000 investment by the provincial government.

Natural Resources Minister Richard Hurlburt and Rodney MacDonald, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Heritage, announced funding today, Feb. 25, for the Port Hood and Area Development Society to build new washroom facilities at the park.

"This contribution reflects the importance this government places on developing our outdoor areas for the benefit of all Nova Scotians," said Mr. Hurlburt. "By improving facilities at this park, we increase its potential for enjoyment, not just by local residents, but by all who visit this part of Cape Breton."

The Department of Natural Resources and the community of Port Hood have worked together during the last 10 years to develop the area of Port Hood beach into a public park.
