Flags Lowered to Honour Fallen Officers

Justice

Flags at all provincial buildings have been lowered to half-mast today, March 4, in memory of the four RCMP officers who were killed Thursday, March 3, in Alberta.

Justice Minister Michael Baker says Nova Scotians, like all Canadians, were shocked by the tragedy which occurred on a farm in Mayerthorpe, Alta.

"On behalf of Nova Scotians, I want to send our condolences to the families of those very brave officers who died in the line of duty," said Mr. Baker. "It's a reminder that each day here in Nova Scotia, members of the RCMP work on our behalf to maintain law and order and keep our communities safe. We are deeply saddened at the news from Alberta, but want officers and their families to know they are in our thoughts and prayers."

Mr. Baker will send an official letter of condolence to RCMP Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli.
