TeleTech To Open New Amherst Operation

Nova Scotia Business Inc. (Dec. 2004 - Nov. 2022)

TeleTech Holdings Inc., a leading provider of customer management solutions, will create up to 360 additional jobs in Nova Scotia when it opens a new state-of-the-art contact centre in Amherst, officials announced today, July 13.

Economic Development Minister Ernest Fage, Ron Chmara, executive director of TeleTech Canada, and Stephen Lund, president and CEO of Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), said the Amherst facility is in addition to the more than 700 positions established at the Halifax operation since 2003.

"The company's growth into Cumberland County will bring hundreds of jobs to the local community and benefit the province's economy as a whole," said Mr. Fage. "TeleTech is a global company that recognizes the skilled and dedicated workforce our province has to offer."

"TeleTech's decision to expand operations in Nova Scotia is a direct result of both the supportive business climate in the province and availability of a highly educated workforce," said Mr. Chmara. "We will be initially recruiting for more than 100 full-time positions and encourage people to submit their applications to TeleTech online at www.hirepoint.com ."

In 2003, NSBI and TeleTech Holdings Inc. signed a multi-year payroll rebate agreement that will see the firm earn a maximum $11.8-million rebate based on the creation of up to 1,495 full-time jobs in the province. The payroll rebate is a performance-related incentive that is paid only after the jobs have been created.

"TeleTech is a leader in the contact centre industry," said Mr. Lund. "Today's announcement demonstrates the company's commitment to continue its growth in Nova Scotia."

TeleTech is a global business services company that provides a full range of front- to back-office solutions including customer management, business process outsourcing, database marketing, and outsourced services that enhance clients' core customer management processes.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. is the province's business development agency, an organization that works with companies to provide business solutions. The private sector-led agency works to attract new business to the province and help those already in Nova Scotia expand through services such as export development and financing.
