Minister Clarifies Statement
Department of Natural Resources
February 16, 2006 6:22 PM
Natural Resources Minister Richard Hurlburt wishes to clarify a statement he made to media earlier today, Feb. 16, concerning the release of the report of the Review of Wildlife Sanctuaries and Management Areas.
This statement indicated that he believed the report had been released, and that there would be no clearcutting on Crown land.
The report of the Wildlife Sanctuaries and Wildlife Management Areas is scheduled for release early next week.
The minister acknowledges that his comment about clearcutting on Crown land, which he made in relation to the Liscomb Wildlife Sanctuary, was incorrect.
"I apologize for these comments to journalists and I hope they understand that I simply made a mistake," said Mr. Hurlburt. "I wish to thank the several media representatives who brought this to my attention to allow me to correct this regrettable error."
