Exporting to Mexico Seminar Planned

Agriculture

Food manufacturers and seafood processors interested in learning more about exporting to Mexican markets, will have an opportunity to explore the business implications at a one-day seminar on Wednesday, June 21, in Halifax.

Atlantic Canada's food export sales to Mexico increased by $10 million in 2005. Agriculture department officials say Mexico is fast becoming an important export market.

The seminar, entitled Challenges and Solutions for Atlantic Agri-Food & Seafood Exporters will be hosted by the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture, the governments of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and the federal departments of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

A recently developed Mexico Export Preparedness Guide will be handed out and discussed. Speakers from Mexico will discuss some of the things necessary for achieving success in the Mexico market. Experienced exporters will address a wide range of issues including overall Mexico market preparedness and entrance challenges, customs procedures, methods of transportation and financial issues. The event will cost $35 per person and will be held at the Delta Barrington.
