Department of Justice Supports Select Nova Scotia Campaign

The Department of Justice is supporting the Select Nova Scotia campaign by directing correctional institutions to support local product purchases whenever possible.

"Through the Select Nova Scotia campaign, the Department of Justice has a great opportunity to support Nova Scotian farmers and retailers," said Justice Minister Murray Scott.

Correctional institutions across the province have been working to ensure local products are used as much as possible. They are asked to purchase Nova Scotia food products -- including meat, fish, fowl, groceries, dairy products and baked goods -- and to make those purchases from Nova Scotia retail outlets.

Officials from the Department of Agriculture have also met with corrections officials and visited correctional facilities to provide information on the Select Nova Scotia campaign.

"Nova Scotia producers can be counted on for high quality. Whenever we can, we plan to buy local," said Mr. Scott.

The province's buy-local campaign, Select Nova Scotia, was announced on July 5.
