Binge Drinking Awareness Campaign Launched

The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) launched its first awareness campaign targeted at binge drinking today, Sept. 5.

Statistics Canada research shows that 44 per cent of men ages 18 to 24 binge drink at least once a month. With returning college and university students filling bars, restaurants and NSLC stores, that statistic is probably conservative for Nova Scotia at this time of the year. The NSLC's campaign highlights the dangers of binge drinking.

The campaign complements the Department of Health Promotion and Protection's provincial alcohol strategy announced last week.
