Watch for Children on Halloween

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Drivers throughout Nova Scotia need to travel with extra caution in residential areas on Halloween to make sure young tricksters sustain nothing worse than a stomach ache.

"Neighbourhoods will be full of excited children running from house to house and probably not paying attention to traffic," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "Even though it may be a little lighter this year, driving with reduced speed and increased attention is still necessary to help everyone have a happy Halloween.

"Drivers need to remember that this is one night when the actions of children are harder to predict."

Parents should also make sure their children are as visible as possible. Flashlights and reflectors should be used and children should be reminded of traffic rules before they go out to trick or treat.
