Democracy 250 Licence Plates Go On Sale

Democracy 250

Nova Scotia paved the way for parliamentary democracy in Canada and it is taking its message on the road. Literally.

Commemorative front licence plates recognizing next year's 250th anniversary of the first representative government in Canada are now for sale at Access Nova Scotia Centres across the province.

A co-operative effort of Democracy 250 and Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations, the bilingual plates feature the Democracy 250 logo and invite Nova Scotians to celebrate this proud first for the province.

Democracy 250 co-chair Dr. John Hamm said, "The commemorative plates are a way for Nova Scotians to demonstrate pride of place and to celebrate Nova Scotia's pioneering role in shaping parliamentary democracy within our country."

Fellow co-chair Russell MacLellan said, "The plates are a tangible and inexpensive way for Nova Scotians to show they believe in the principles of democracy and the rights and freedoms it provides."

Plates can be purchased for $11.40 (tax included) at any Access Nova Scotia Centre, by calling 1-800-898-7668 or on-line at www.democracy250.ca/shop.html .
