Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

A $1,397,050 road-paving contract in Cumberland County has been awarded by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

The contract was awarded to Cumberland Paving and Contracting Ltd. to repave Barronsfield Road from the intersection of Route 242 in River Hebert, north for six kilometres toward Minudie. The project is scheduled for completion this summer.

"This project is part of the department's efforts to build better highways for Nova Scotia," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "Barronsfield Road is an important connection through this unique part of Nova Scotia."

The project is part of government's commitment to better roads and infrastructure as outlined in the speech from the throne.

The department's highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
