Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Two road-paving contracts in Hants County with a total valued at $4,038,175 have been awarded by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

The first contract, for $2,382,964, was awarded to Basin Contracting Ltd. and is to repave Trunk 14 from the intersection of Garden Road east for 9.3 kilometres to the intersection of Trunk 2.

The second contract, for $1,655,211, was awarded to Dexter Construction Co. Ltd. to repave Route 215 from the intersection of Sherman Lake Road east for eight kilometres to the intersection of Hiltz Road. These projects are scheduled to be completed this summer.

"Our department works hard to get the biggest bang out of our construction dollars," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "Keeping the province's roads in top shape will help keep goods and people moving safely around Nova Scotia."

These projects are part of government's commitment to better roads and infrastructure as outlined in the speech from the throne.

The department's highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
