Tenders Called for Victoria County Paving

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Drivers in the Bras d'Or Lakes area will soon be enjoying smooth sailing on water and land thanks to a road-paving tender announced by the province.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal has called a tender to repave Big Baddeck Road in Victoria County from the intersection of the Old Margaree Road north for about five kilometres.

"Baddeck can be a busy spot in the summertime and many drivers use this section as an alternative to the main highways in the area," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "It's important that we keep our secondary routes upgraded as well as our main roads."

This project is part of government's commitment to better roads and infrastructure as outlined in the speech from the throne.

The department's highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro, and Sydney.
