Nova Scotia Come to life now has representation from the Aboriginal community with the addition of the community of Membertou as a charter members.

Membertou was among 40 businesses and organizations that signed the Come to life charter at the Celebration of Success gala dinner in Sydney on Friday, Nov. 7. Charter members pledge to support the initiative and are ambassadors for Nova Scotia, telling the world about the province's many attributes.

Premier Rodney MacDonald was at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre to welcome the new members.

"More and more people are discovering the Nova Scotia advantage," said Premier MacDonald. "There are many advantages to living and working in this province and together, under Nova Scotia Come to life, the public and the private sector are ensuring that message is being heard worldwide."

Chief Terrance Paul signed the charter for the Membertou community.

"Membertou is a strong, progressive community," said Chief Paul. "We are proud to stand together with the rest of the Come to life charter members to ensure the world is aware of the incredible things that are happening in this province."

The new charter members join 222 others, including the Cape Breton Partnership and the Sydney Chamber of Commerce, which co-hosted the gala dinner with Come to life.

"We are doing great things in this province," said Sydney Chamber president Owen Fitzgerald. "Bringing the business community together to celebrate the benefits of being a Nova Scotian is a great way to instill both pride and confidence in our capacity to continue to move forward."

This is the third Celebration of Success gala held in the province. The first was in Antigonish in May and the second was in Yarmouth in October. Other events are planned for the Annapolis Valley and Port Hawkesbury.
