Department Advises Public of Youth Escape

The Department of Justice is advising the public that a youth has fled from custody by stealing a vehicle at a construction site.

The 17-year-old male was in custody at the Nova Scotia Youth Facility in Waterville. RCMP have been notified and are searching for the individual.

He had earned the privilege to work without direct supervision. At the time of the incident, he was working with outside construction workers.

The youth cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He was in custody for theft-related offences.
