Corrections Exemplary Service Medals Awarded

Thirty-two staff with Correctional Services at the Department of Justice were presented with the Corrections Exemplary Service Medal.
The award recognizes employees of the Canadian Correctional Service who have served in an exemplary manner, characterized by good conduct, dedication and efficiency. Recipients must have completed 20 years of full-time service, not necessarily continuous, with one or more of the correctional services in Canada.
Lt.-Gov. Mayann Francis presented the medals during a ceremony held today, Feb. 19, in Halifax.
The Corrections Exemplary Service Medal and Bar were introduced to Canadian Corrections in 1984. This medal recognizes the special obligations and sometimes difficult conditions faced by correctional services staff whose duties bring them in regular contact with offenders.
