Provincial Parks: Discover Our Nature

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

NOTE: The camping season for each Nova Scotia provincial park follows the release.

Nova Scotians are invited to step away from the day-to-day and let their senses soak up nature's finest experiences.

The provincial park reservation system will open Thursday, April 2.

"Now's the time for Nova Scotia campers to start planning and reserve space in our outstanding provincial parks," said Department of Natural Resources Minister Carolyn Bolivar-Getson. "Staying at one of 20 camping parks is one of the best ways to discover Nova Scotia's natural beauty."

Campers can choose campsites within campgrounds by accessing the reservation system online or by phone at 1-888-544-3434, between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Beyond camping, Nova Scotia Provincial Parks provide attractions for all ages and activities for everyone, from the observer to the experienced outdoors person. Facilities include beach and day-use parks, as well as many trails.

Day-use provincial parks operate from Victoria Day weekend until Thanksgiving Day weekend. Opening and closing dates for camping parks vary.

Camping park dates have changed so campers will have more opportunities to enjoy Nova Scotia's provincial parks. This year, there are 96 more days available for use than in 2008.

Reservation fees this year are $8, with a $6 cancellation fee. Fees are $18 for basic camping, $23 for park with flush toilets and shower building, and $31 for water and electrical sites at Porters Lake.

No alcohol is permitted in all Nova Scotia Provincial Parks from the park opening date to July 2 for the 2009 season.
