Crossbow Course Now Available Online

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

Nova Scotia is the first province to provide an online crossbow course.

Students will be able to complete all course work online to become a fully certified crossbow hunter. After completing the online course, students will be certified with the Department of Natural Resources, so they can hunt with a crossbow during the approved season.

With an emphasis on safety, the course is fully illustrated, interactive and complemented by narration.

"We are very excited to offer such a convenient and efficient way for hunters to obtain their crossbow certification," said Judy Clattenburg, hunter education co-ordinator for the Department of Natural Resources. "We also wanted to appeal to youth and encourage more people to take the course."

Those who want to learn more about crossbow safety are encouraged to attend a crossbow field day, hosted by the Nova Scotia Crossbow Association of Hunters and Department of Natural Resources on Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Department of Natural Resources Training Centre, Shubenacadie.

The field day will address crossbow safety and care and offer hands-on target practice (crossbows will be provided). For more information, contact Judy Clattenburg at 902-424-2351.
