Province Finalizing Details of Cape Breton Moose Hunt

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

The 2010 annual moose licence lottery will be held at the Baddeck Fire Hall, Victoria Co., on Thursday, June 24.

Moose hunting licences will be available through the lottery for four zones within Victoria and Inverness counties -- the only counties in the province where moose hunting is permitted. Hunters must pick a zone and one of three seasons in which to hunt.

"Hunting moose in the Cape Breton Highlands is a prized, unique and enjoyable experience," said John MacDonell, Minister of Natural Resources. "I expect interest in the hunt will remain quite high again this year."

The department will announce the licence application period in the coming weeks.

After the public draw, lottery winners will be notified by mail. Applicants can also use their wildlife resource card number to check their individual draw results on-line or by calling a local Department of Natural Resources office.
