Offender Dies in Custody

An inmate died Saturday, April 17, at Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside. Halifax Regional Police are investigating, but foul play is not suspected.

The inmate has been identified as Daniel Alexander Nowogorski. Mr. Nowogorski, 31, was admitted Friday, April 16 on a parole suspension and was remanded on two counts of robbery. Next of kin has been notified.

"I extend my sincerest sympathy to the family of Mr. Nowogorski," said Justice Minister Ross Landry.

As is the case when an offender dies while in custody, the police and coroner were notified.
