Consultation Extended on Contaminated Sites Discussion Paper

Environment (April 2008 - Feb. 2021)

The province is extending the deadline for Nova Scotians to provide input on a contaminated sites discussion paper.

Due to a computer error, public comments on the discussion paper sent to the department online between May 7 and May 27 were not received. To address the error, the deadline has been extended to July 31. Individuals who submitted online comment through the consultation e-mail, policy@gov.ns.ca, or online form are encouraged to resubmit.

"We value the input of Nova Scotians and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused," said Environment Minister Sterling Belliveau. "We have taken steps to ensure this computer error does not occur again."

The discussion paper, Cleaning Up, Help Us Make Contaminated Land Safe and Productive, proposes a number of approaches to better manage contaminated sites. Public consultation on the discussion paper will help government in the design of a comprehensive program for site management.
