Hurricane Earl Update Bulletin No. 2, Sept. 4

Emergency Management Office

The Emergency Management Office is reporting the following activity as a result of Hurricane Earl:

  • The hurricane is rapidly changing and evolving. It is currently a confirmed Category 1 hurricane.
  • RCMP have blocked Highway 207 from MacDonald House to the intersection of Highway 207 and Crowell Road, to prevent people from accessing Lawrencetown Beach. This section of highway is only open to emergency vehicles.
  • Eastern Shore Road in Queens County, from Port Medway to West Berlin, is closed because of a fallen tree and downed power line.
  • Highway 331 between Risser Beach and Petite Riviere, Green Bay Road, both in Lunenburg County, are closed because of downed power lines.
  • People are reminded to exercise caution when going down darkened stairwells during power outages.
  • Any questions on food safety can be directed to the Department of Agriculture's food safety line at 1-877-252-3663. The line is being monitored by food safety specialists.
  • Roads next to Queensland Beach and Kennedy's Beach are closed due to surf on the road.
  • A section of Trunk 3 is closed because of downed trees.
