Deputy Minister Harnish to Retire

Vicki Harnish, deputy minister of the Department of Finance, will retire after 36 years in the public service, effective Oct. 31.

Premier Darrell Dexter made the announcement today, Oct. 14.

"I want to take this opportunity to recognize Deputy Harnish for her dedication to public service in Nova Scotia," said Premier Dexter. "Vicki's guidance and support has been extremely helpful to me and my team as we set the multi-year targets for the province to live within its means."

Ms. Harnish has been the deputy minister for the Department of Finance since January 2004. She has enjoyed a 36-year career working for the province in various capacities including the deputy minister of the Treasury and Policy Board and Public Service Commissioner.

"I want to offer a sincere thanks to deputy minister Harnish who capably served governments and premiers from all parties with great dedication and the highest principles of public service," said Premier Dexter.

A replacement for Ms. Harnish will be announced in the weeks to come.
