Funds for Seniors' Projects

Seniors (Oct. 2007 - Aug. 2021)

The province is making life better for seniors with grants for projects that help them stay active and remain in their communities.

"The government is continuing its commitment to improving life for seniors with these grants," said Minister of Seniors Denise Peterson-Rafuse today, April 1. "But it's not just seniors who benefit. Communities become more connected with the work that is done through the grants and improved services benefit everyone."

Grants of up to $10,000 are available through the Positive Aging Program Fund. Non-profit community organizations can apply for grants that advance the goals and actions outlined in Nova Scotia's Strategy for Positive Aging, with a focus on health, well-being and community participation. Seniors have to be involved in the planning and delivery of the project. The deadline for applications is April 21.

Municipalities and community partners can apply for up to $5,000 dollars for grants under the Age-Friendly Communities Program to develop or adapt structures or services so they are accessible to seniors to help them to lead healthy, active lives. Grants are also available to assist in the planning efforts necessary to becoming an Age-Friendly Community. The deadline for applications is May 16.
