Road and Bridge Repairs Continue in Margaree

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Work continues to repair roads and bridges in Inverness County damaged during a December 2010 storm.

About $1 million has already been spent and another $1 million will be invested during this construction season to complete the remaining work.

"While most major repairs are complete there is still work to be done, particularly to repair some bridges that are important to local residents," said Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister Bill Estarbrooks. "Plans are in place that will see the remaining work completed this summer."

Roads and bridges at 36 sites received some damage during the storm. Asphalt patching, replacing shoulder gravel, ditching, and culvert repairs made most roads passable in the days after the storm.

Several bridges were also affected by the storm. All bridges are open, except for three bridges on East Margaree Cross Road. All three of these bridges will be repaired and the road re-opened early this summer.

"This storm caused significant damage and we appreciate everyone's patience as we complete these remaining repairs," said Mr. Estabrooks.
